Education and Engagement Summer Intern
The Education and Engagement Summer Intern will gain insight and experience into theatre education and audience engagement. This intern will work closely with the education and engagement staff to support McCarter’s 6-week summer camp program and ongoing audience and community engagement projects. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: classroom support, teaching opportunities, administrative support, maintenance of student rosters and medical information, research, correspondence, copywriting, event promotion, public speaking, and production support for final presentations.  The Education and Engagement Summer Internship runs from late June (approx. June 20) to early August (approx. Aug 6).

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and 5-10 page writing sample to interncoordinator@mccarter.org. Your writing sample should ideally be something written for a general audience, like program notes or newspaper articles, but academic papers are fine. No plays or fiction please. Application Deadline is April 30, 2017.

 

Artistic Summer Internship
The summer artistic internship provides the opportunity to observe and participate in the day-to-day artistic activities of a regional theater and gain experience in the fields of casting, producing, literary management, dramaturgy, and artistic administration. The artistic summer intern works jointly in the literary, producing and the artistic director's offices supporting the activities of the artistic staff. Responsibilities are tailored to fit the interest and experience of each year's intern, and can include: reading and analyzing scripts, correspondence, scheduling, meeting support, filing, database entry, writing/developing content for performance program and website, and dramaturgical research. Detail-oriented, organized and creative thinkers are encouraged to apply. Dates are flexible, but in general the internship runs from late June (approx. June 20) to early August (approx. Aug 5). Limited housing may be available.

The internships are paid ($100 weekly stipend), but unfortunately we do not offer summer housing at this time. This internship runs from June to early August. Applicant must also have a car and valid driver’s license. School credit may be arranged.

Post Graduate, full time internships for the 2015-2016 season are now available as well.
