DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ seeks a Development Associate to join the development department. The Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and will be responsible for providing administrative support to the department. This position will work closely with the Director of Individual Giving, to assist with the operations of the Theatre’s Annual Fund, and will also work with the Director of Institutional Giving to promote the theatre to local businesses and organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, two years of relevant administrative experience at a non-profit organization; computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel; Tessitura experience (strongly preferred) or similar development software; exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task; understanding of donor stewardship and all that it involves; experience in all aspects of event planning; and passion for the arts. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

McCarter Theatre seeks an Assistant Technical Director to join the production staff. The ATD assists the Technical Director with the operation of the Scene Shop and production of scenery for McCarter’s six-play season. Primary responsibilities include: preparation of shop drawings; design and implementation of automated and other specialized scenic elements; maintenance of supply stocks and upkeep of shop equipment. The ATD must adhere to and enforce safe work practices. The successful candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, as well as a four-year degree and/or equivalent professional experience. Applicant must be able to lift and carry heavy scenery, climb ladders and work on the grid. Position reports directly to the Technical Director.

FIRST HAND

McCarter Theatre seeks First Hand to join our Costume Shop staff. The First Hand is primarily responsible for assisting the Drapers in all aspects of costume construction for McCarter’s mainstage productions. Other responsibilities include costume crafts and selected wardrobe run crew assignments. Applicants must have professional theater experience, strong hand/machine sewing skill and a willingness to work a flexible weekly schedule. This position reports to the Costume Shop Manager.

PROP SHOPPER

McCarter Theatre seeks individual to join Prop Shop staff. Responsibilities include research; procuring furniture, hand props and materials; some craft/artisan work; assisting with load-ins/outs and changeovers; managing outgoing rentals and stock. Previous Prop Shop experience, valid driver’s license, above average PC skills, Photoshop skills and some craft skills required. Applicant must be able to climb and work on ladders, carry furniture, scenery, etc. This position reports to the Prop Master.

PARKING ATTENDANT / SECURITY PERSONNEL

McCarter Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, located in Princeton, NJ, is seeking a part-time security personnel primarily responsible for: coordinating donor and handicapped parking before performances, ensuring that patrons move in and out of the theatre safely, being in contact with Princeton University Public Safety if a situation arises, assisting the performing artist when they interact with the public, and checking to make sure that fire exits are clear. Successful applicants will be well-dressed, have a great sense of humor, show discretion, have an interest in the performing arts, and be timely. Please have at least one year of prior experience working with the public. Successful applicants must have availability in the evenings during the week, with occasional weekends. In addition to working in a unique and dynamic environment, employees also enjoy periodic complimentary tickets.

BARTENDER

McCarter Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, the region’s leading performing arts center, is looking for a motivated Bartender who will work in our concessions bars as well as our onsite café, Terra Teatro.

This is a part-time position and applicants must have the ability to multi-task, be customer-service oriented, have a willingness to do whatever it takes to exceed guest expectations, as well as reliable transportation. We are looking for outgoing, motivated individuals who take pride in their work. Prior customer service experience is a plus. Applicants must be available to work, evenings, weekends and around the holidays. Note: there are no performances on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
