High School Playwriting Residency Program
The participating schools for the 2010/11 Youth Ink season will be announced August 2010.
|
In this ten-session residency, the McCarter Education staff partners with arts-passionate high school educators to empower participating 11th and 12th grade students as young playwrights. Each visit, McCarter teaching artists delve deeper and deeper into the craft of playwriting to foster students in the creation of their own ten-minute plays. Selected sessions are enhanced by visits from professional playwrights, dramaturgs, and McCarter’s artistic director, Emily Mann. Student plays are critiqued and fine-tuned throughout the process, which culminates in the selection of one student’s play from each school for professional production at the McCarter Theatre in our annual Youth Ink Festival. If you are an art-passionate high school educator and would like to learn more about Youth Ink!, we invite you to contact us regarding an application. Five schools are selected annually to participate.
