From the strait-laced world of the Athenian court, four confused lovers run away to a decadent and wild wood populated by mischievous fairies. The fairies interfere, both with the courtship of the young people and with a group of rough workmen preparing a performance for a royal wedding. Things are turned topsy-turvy, as men become beasts and lovers are rearranged. In this fresh new production, director Tina Landau teams with alt-rock band GrooveLily for a unique musical interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s best known and most charming comedies, full of dreams and the power of the imagination.
