Is your online order process safe?
Yes. Our secure server software encrypts all of your personal information including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. The encryption process takes the characters you enter and converts them into bits of code that are securely transmitted over the Internet.
When your order reaches our office, it can be decrypted only by designated individuals in our Ticket Office.
When will I receive my tickets?
Your tickets will be mailed to you if you purchased them 5 or more days prior to your scheduled performance. If you selected “Hold at Box Office” or you purchased the tickets less than 5 days before the performance, your tickets will be available for pick up on the day of the performance.
Subscription series tickets are mailed at the end of the summer, or as the season progresses, you will receive them in the mail with your subscriber discount card and Audience Guide shortly after you purchase your subscription tickets. Young At Art Subscription tickets or Student tickets that are purchase over the phone will not be mailed to you. You must pick them up on or before your first performance date and show the proper identification. Student or Young At Art Tickets purchased with Regular priced subscription tickets will be mailed together.
What provisions are made for patrons with disabilities?
McCarter Theatre is a barrier-free building. Wheelchair seating must be requested at time of ticket order. Disabled parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis to those displaying official state license plates or placards. Headphones for hearing enhancement are available free of charge in the front lobby on a first-come, first-served basis. Two audio-described and one American Sign Language interpreted performances are scheduled for each Theater Series production. Large print and Braille programs are available upon request. How long are the performances?
Performance run times vary. You may call the ticket office at 258.2787 the day of a performance to inquire as to the running time. This information is also posted in locations throughout the lobby when you arrive for a performance.
What should I wear to the performance?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some audience members come to the theater in more dressy attire, others arrive in more casual shirts and slacks. Either is fine.
Can I take a tour of the theater?
The theater is closed to the public when there is not a performance scheduled. Annual Donors of $50 or more are invited to a backstage tour each season.
