Contemporary Dance from Cuba:
- October 18-19, 2017
As the “crown jewel” in the emerging Cuban contemporary dance scene, Malpaso Artistic Director Osnel Delgado has been able to attract both international choreographers and new voices in Cuban choreography. With balletic precision and muscular, grounded footwork, Malpaso’s dancers are a sheer delight to watch, not only in Delgado’s own work (like Ocaso) but in that by Ron K. Brown (Why You Follow) and Indomitable Waltz (Aszure Barton)—all three of which will be part of their McCarter debut program. (Berlind)

JOSHUA BELL, violin - November 1, 2017
Joshua Bell is the nation’s number one violinist and one of music’s true superstars, capturing the public’s attention as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, orchestra leader, and conductor. You can’t miss him on his numerous Live From Lincoln Center specials and you’ve heard him on movie soundtracks. And since his musical outlook encompasses progressive bluegrass, rock, jazz, and every other genre you can think of, your music library is bound to include at least one of his more than 40 album releases. A Red Orchid Theatre’s
- Sept 8-Oct 8, 2017
Buried secrets, blackmail, and false identities race onto the stage in Simpatico, a tragicomedy about the slippery netherworld of thoroughbred racing from Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist Sam Shepard. When a simple phone call causes Carter and Vinnie’s shady past to resurface, fierce loyalties that were once hot-blooded begin to run astray. McCarter is proud to collaborate with the acclaimed Chicago ensemble A Red Orchid Theatre to bring this riveting American drama to Princeton, starring Tony and Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire, Nocturnal Animals, Long Day’s Journey Into Night) and members of A Red Orchid Theatre. (Berlind)
