50th Anniversary Tour:

Twyla Tharp has assembled a new company of 12 dancers to celebrate her 50th anniversary as one of the most inventive and innovative choreographers in the history of American dance. She turns her decades of experience into living proof that she remains among the century’s most treasured artists with an evening of classic and new work. The program begins with Preludes and Fugues (2015), set to music from Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier; and closes with Tharp’s beloved Nine Sinatra Songs (1982) with music by Frank Sinatra and glittering costumes by Oscar de la Renta. Both unmistakably display Tharp’s mastery of technique and imagination.

"...breathtaking outpouring of dance wit and poetic bravura." – The New York Times

“…unmistakably the work of a master, compendiums of what Tharp has learned and discovered over the decades about dance and making dances.” – The New York Times

This engagement of Twyla Tharp is made possible through the ArtsCONNECT program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
