Contemporary Dance from Cuba:

Only five years after its founding, Artistic Director Osnel Delgado and his company have not taken a single malpaso (a “misstep”) having already been to the Joyce Theater twice and part of the BAM Next Wave Festival. As the “crown jewel” in the emerging Cuban contemporary dance scene, Delgado has been able to attract both international choreographers and new voices in Cuban choreography. With balletic precision and muscular, grounded footwork, Malpaso’s dancers are a sheer delight to watch, not only in Delgado’s own work (like Ocaso), but in that by Ron K. Brown (Why You Follow) and Indomitable Waltz (Aszure Barton)—all three of which will be part of their McCarter debut.

Made possible in part with support from the New England Foundation for the Arts National Project.

Malpaso Dance Company is an Associate Company of Joyce Theater Productions.
