There may be skeletons in the closet of the LeVays' genteel beach house. When the younger son's fiancée, who has not had wealth to cushion her color, arrives at the family's home in Martha's Vineyard, it ignites a dance of class, territory and duty, and explosive family secrets come to light.  Sharp as a razor's edge, this heartfelt and brutally funny look at a complicated family in disarray, is a play about fathers and sons, fathers and daughters, race, class, and privilege—and how ideas become personal.

McCarter is thrilled to present the East Coast premiere of Stick Fly by affiliate artist Lydia Diamond. Diamond is a dynamic new voice, recently lauded for her adaptation of  Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye last season in Chicago and New York.  With Stick Fly she creates a play filled with memorable dialogue and realistic portraits that explores some of the most complicated questions in contemporary family life.
