Yes, it’s the same guy: the very same Herb Alpert whose trumpet playing as leader of the legendary Tijuana Brass earned him five No.1 chart hits, eight Grammys, and 15 Gold and 14 Platinum albums, propelling Latino music into the pop music limelight (at one point, the TB outsold the Beatles two to one!). Now, this Renaissance Man of Music is back on stage, joined by his wife Lani Hall, who rose to her own stardom and has her own Grammy as the lead singer for Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66. Together with their piano trio, they bring an evening steeped in musical nostalgia, drawing from a wide treasury of jazz, both American and Brazilian, as well as popular standards.
