Paul Taylor (who turns 81 this spring) is the last living member of the pantheon that created America’s indigenous art of modern dance, together with Merce Cunningham and Martha Graham. He continues to win acclaim for the vibrancy, relevance and power of his new works as well as his classics, while offering cogent observations on life’s complexities and society’s thorniest issues. His ever-growing collection of works now numbers 135. Taylor himself has received the Kennedy Center Honors, an Emmy, and a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant,” and in the words of The New York Times, is “one of the few living artists who have made classics by which our age should be remembered.”
Two new works, both Princeton Premieres, that are both having their New York premieres this spring:
The Uncommitted (music by Arvo Part) Gossamer Gallants (music by Smetana)
And one Taylor classic:
Mercuric Tidings (music by Schubert)
