This “Pied Piper of Pre-Schoolers” has been a longtime fixture of TV’s Noggin (now Nick Jr.) and her original songs, CDs (six so far, including the latest “Best of” collection), DVDs, music videos, and books have left no doubt: Laurie Berkner is the uncrowned queen of children’s music and the power behind the progressive “kindie rock” movement. What sets her apart? Her music speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown-ups. The Princeton native will be joined by her longtime collaborators Adam Bernstein, Susie Lampert, and Bob Golden—the “band”—in old and new hits, including songs from her Rocketship CD and her new DVD, Party Day.
