Plays and Performances in Context

This class is designed for theatergoers who are insight seekers eager to take deep dives into dramatic texts and learn about a work’s social, cultural, and historical context and creative origins—all the while engaging in a lively discussion. We will pair published works with recorded or streamed performances that can be accessed virtually. The summer version of the Princeton Adult School’s popular Theater in 3D, this course will be taught by Paula Alekson, McCarter’s Artistic Engagement Manager.

Tuesdays and Thursdays — June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30 from 9:00-10:30AM 

$325 (does not include the cost of play scripts or performances)


Introduction to Scene Writing for Adults

Love reading plays and attending live theatre, but you’ve not yet had the time or opportunity to explore playwriting yourself? Now is your chance to discover the playwright in you! In this minicourse, students will learn the nuts and bolts used to compose and develop a scene through interactive lessons, play readings, guided writing exercises, and constructive dramaturgical feedback. This course is taught by Paula Alekson, McCarter’s Artistic Engagement Manager.
