McCarter online classes are capped at a low number so that all students can benefit from individualized attention from their teaching artists. Classes generally range in size from 14-18 students, with some exceptions. For more information about specific classes, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Yes! McCarter is dedicated to making our programs accessible to students of all economic circumstances who are interested in theater. We encourage families who are considering not participating in our programs because of monetary issues to apply for financial aid, which is provided by several individual sponsors, corporate and foundation funding, and the State of New Jersey.
Partial and full scholarships will be awarded based on financial need only. Applications must be submitted with the class registration form. Any incomplete forms will be returned. Students will not be placed in classes without a completed application and registration form. You can access the application form HERE.
To receive a full refund, you must notify us by email at least two weeks prior to the first day of the class at email@example.com. Refunds will not be issued after that time, but we may be able to provide a credit for a future class.
If a class is full, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on a waitlist. Please include your name, your child's name and grade level if you are enrolling a minor, and your phone number, email address, and class choice.
If a class is full by the time you register, we will notify you that you’ve been placed on the waitlist, then notify you again if space opens up. Our staff is always happy to discuss options for other classes that still have room.
Our classes are held online through a virtual platform. Information about how to access the online class will be emailed to you after you’ve registered.
Members of McCarter’s education staff, who are experienced directors, actors, playwrights, and choreographers will lead the online summer classes.
No, you do not need previous acting experience — you just need to love having fun! Some classes are more rigorous and require a larger time commitment than others. Your schedule and/or your child’s level of commitment will determine what program is right for them. Our teaching artists work hard to ensure that all students have individual learning goals and challenges appropriate to their unique and varied abilities.
Yes. In McCarter Online Summer Classes, each student becomes an essential member of an ensemble, which means absences impact the entire group. While we certainly understand that illnesses and family emergencies can come up unexpectedly, we ask that you try to avoid having more than two unexcused absences.
Due to the unique nature of online classes, final sharing structures will be determined for each class by the teaching artist. This information will be conveyed to you after registration. Not every class will culminate in a sharing as many classes will focus on process over product.
We do not create professional videos of online classes.
