Community Ensemble

Each year, McCarter casts a community ensemble comprised of about 30 local performers in our production of A Christmas Carol. During the show, this enthusiastic group fills the streets of London, dances with the Fezziwigs, carols at Scrooge’s doorstep, and brings Christmas cheer to every corner of McCarter.

Young Ensemble

Every year, McCarter Theatre Center casts twelve young actors in the Young Ensemble, a group of children ages 5-13 who take on roles within our annual production of A Christmas Carol. Members of the Young Ensemble have the opportunity to perform alongside professional actors on McCarter’s Matthews stage.

OnStage Seniors: A Community Project of McCarter Theatre

An ensemble all over the age of 55 that creates documentary theater performances that explore the stories of our local community.

Community Partnerships

McCarter is proud to offer a variety of free programs that build community through the art of theater.

Princeton Adult School Class: “Theater in 3D”

Offered in partnership with the Princeton Adult School, this course is taught each semester by a member of McCarter’s artistic staff. For each show in McCarter’s Theater Series, participants meet at McCarter to read and discuss the play as a piece of literature, see the play together, then gather a third a time to discuss new layers of meaning revealed by the production.

All registration and payment is handled through the Princeton Adult School. To learn more or register, please visit:
