When does registration begin? 

Online registration will begin on February 17th for all 2023 in-person Summer Camp programs.   

Registration is online only—no phone, email, or mail applications are accepted. 

 

What is the schedule for McCarter’s in-person camps?  

Camp runs Monday – Friday in five sessions: 

Session 1: June 19- June 23 (One-Week Intensive) 

Session 2: June 26 – July 7 (July 3rd and 4th are off) 

Session 3: July 10 - July 21 

Session 4: July 24 – August 4 

Session 5: August 7 – August 11 (One-Week Intensive) 

 

What age groups are eligible to enroll in McCarter’s 2023 Summer Camp program?  

 McCarter’s 2023 summer camp serves campers ages 5-15.  

5-6-year-old camps run Monday - Friday from 9:30 am -12:30 pm 

7-15-year-old camps run Monday - Friday from 9:00 am -3:00 pm 

 

What is the enrollment capacity in each camp session?  

 

7-15-year-old camps have a maximum capacity of 16 campers.  

5-6-year-old camps have a maximum capacity of 12 campers. 

 

Where will the camp sessions take place?   

Camp will take place at the McCarter Theatre Center. 

 

When is payment due?   

Payment is due at the time of registration. We are unable to offer payment plans at this time, but information about scholarships and financial assistance is listed below.  

 

Can I apply for a scholarship or financial assistance?   

Need-based scholarships and financial assistance are available to qualifying families. Please download and complete the application. Email your materials to classes@mccarter.org. A McCarter representative will reach out to you with the following steps once we've received your materials.  

 

 

Can I receive a full refund if I need to cancel a camp session?  

To receive a full refund, you must notify us by email (classes@mccarter.org) at least two weeks before the start of the camp session. Refunds will not be issued past that deadline. 

 

Will there be a final performance for invited guests at the end of each session?  

Yes. All camps will culminate in a final sharing for invited guests. 

 

Will my child eat their lunch at camp?   

7-15-year-old camps will run from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm with a lunch break at noon. Campers should bring a bagged lunch that does not require refrigeration or heating.  

The 5-6-year-old camp runs from 9:30 am -12:30 pm and does not include a lunch break, but students are encouraged to bring a snack that doesn’t require refrigeration or heating.   

 

What should my child bring to camp?   

Camps will take place indoors in large rehearsal rooms. A layering sweatshirt is encouraged as the room temperature varies throughout the day. Sunscreen and bug spray should be applied before arriving at camp, as lunch/snack will generally take place outdoors when the weather permits. If your child needs to bring medication, please contact classes@mccarter.org to discuss the details.   

 

When can I drop off and pick up my child from camp?   

Regular Camp sessions: 

 

Drop-off and pick-up for our 5-6-year-old camp will occur at 9:20 am - 9:30 am and 12:30 pm - 12:40 pm. 

 

Drop-off and pick-up for our 7-15-year-old camps will take place at 8:50 am - 9:00 am and 3:00 am - 3:10 pm. 

 

Are you offering pre and post-camp care?   

Yes! We are offering pre and post-camp care this summer.  

 

Pre-care drop-off occurs at 7:50 am (Ages 5-15 welcome) 

Post-care pick-up occurs between 3-5 pm (Ages 7-15 welcome) *Post-care does not serve our 5 and 6-year-old campers 

 

Cost: 

Pre $100 per week 

Post: $200 per week 

 

*Families must pay the total amount per week regardless of how many days they use the service.  

Financial assistance is available to families in need. 

 

Who is teaching the McCarter in-person summer camp program?  

A Lead Teaching Artist and an Assistant Teaching Artist will teach each camp. All Teaching Artists have experience working with young students and are exceptional artists and educators. Additionally, all summer camp staff has successfully completed a criminal background check.  

 

Will you continue to offer virtual classes over the summer? 

No. We have paused our virtual offerings at this time to focus on our in-person classes. 

 

What is your Covid-19 policy?
