Teach With Us

McCarter hires over 35 part-time teaching artists each year. We work with many experienced teaching artists who live in New York, Philadelphia, and throughout New Jersey, but we are always looking to expand our local pool. We are also particularly interested in growing our roster of teaching artists who also identify as directors, music directors, and bi-lingual educators.

Additionally, we hire a number of Teaching Artist Assistants for after school programs, summer camps, and in-school residencies. These positions are best suited for people who are new to teaching artistry and want to learn from a skilled mentor while supporting the work of a theater classroom for a few hours a week. This is a great opportunity for current college students or recent graduates who live locally.

We are also always interested in hearing from emerging costume, scenic, lighting, and props designers looking to bring their talents to educational theater.

If you are interested in teaching, assisting, or designing with us, please send your resume and cover letter to education@mccarter.org. We will keep promising resumes on file and contact applicants with any further questions as opportunities arise.

McCarter’s commitment to fostering and promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace extends to our teaching artists. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, and strongly encourage candidates of color to apply.
