Dialogue on Drama
March 18, 2018
Venue Matthews Theatre Stage
Start Time Immediately following the 2pm matinee (approximately 4pm).
Please join McCarter Theatre Center’s Artistic Director and Resident Playwright Emily Mann for an engaging, moderated conversation with Crowns author and director Regina Taylor, conducted by special guest moderator Dr. Yolanda Pierce, Dean of the Howard University School of Divinity.
Taylor and Mann will discuss this 15th anniversary revival of Crowns with Pierce, and reflect on the play’s original inspiration, as well as on its impact, longevity, and continued popularity on the national stage since. Taylor will also provide details on what motivated her decision to return to the script to update and expand its story, and the joys and challenges of returning to an artistic project more than a decade later. Audience questions will also be entertained, and Pierce’s expertise as an African American Religion and Literature scholar will further enliven and enrich the discussion.
We encourage you to attend this illuminating (and free!) special event, regardless of when you see Crowns in performance.
This Dialogue on Drama post-show event will begin at approximately 4pm.
No RSVP or ticket is required to attend the discussion; it is free and open to the public.
