Dialogue on Drama
May 13, 2018
Venue Berlind Stage
Admission No RSVP or ticket is required to attend the discussion; it is free and open to the public.
Please join us for an engaging, moderated post-performance conversation with Turning Off the Morning News’ playwright Christopher Durang and McCarter Artistic Director and Resident Playwright and director of the play, Emily Mann.
Durang and Mann will reflect upon their third world-premiere collaboration and the process of bringing Turning Off the Morning news from the page as a McCarter commission to the stage of the Berlind Theatre. Durang will speak about his singular, satirical, and absurdist view of the human condition in the modern world and how he makes art out of our anxieties; while Mann will discuss her appreciation of Durang’s unique voice and extraordinary craft and share the joys and challenges of directing a dark comedy in the absurdist theatrical style.
This Dialogue on Drama discussion will take place on the Berlind Stage immediately following the 2pm performance (at approximately 3:30pm) on Sunday, May 13. We encourage you to attend this illuminating (and free!) special event, regardless of when you plan to see Turning Off the Morning News.
