Midori, violin and Jean-Yves Thibaudet, piano
MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2019
Venue Matthews Theatre
Since her debut at age 11 with the New York Philharmonic, Midori has established a record as a master musician and innovator. Her partner at the keyboard will be the prolific, Grammy-nominated, French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, making his McCarter debut. Thibaudet has recorded over 50 albums—two with Grammy nominations. He is Artist-in-Residence with the Boston Symphony Orchestra this season. What also sets him apart is his delight in music beyond the standard repertoire, from jazz to opera, and including film soundtracks. Midori will join him in sonatas by Schumann, Fauré, Debussy, and Enescu.
As of March 1, the shuttle between the train station and McCarter is no longer running.
The Dinky train service from Princeton Junction to Princeton is suspended until Spring 2019. NJ Transit is providing substitute bus service. Buses will depart Princeton station 15 minutes prior to the scheduled train departure time. View updated bus schedule.

With Yang Yi, zheng
As the world’s premier pipa virtuoso and leading ambassador of Chinese music, Wu Man has given the lute-like instrument a new role in both traditional and contemporary music. McCarter audiences may be familiar with her work already as one of the founding members and lead soloists of the Silk Road Ensemble, alongside prodigious cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Her return to Princeton will be accompanied by Yang Yi playing the zheng.
