Living a Creative Life: A Conversation with Questlove and Imani Perry

Venue Matthews Theatre

Princeton University’s Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students is honored to host iconic musician and author Questlove, the drummer and joint frontman for The Roots, in conversation with Imani Perry, The Hughes-Rogers Professor of African American Studies.

A native of Philadelphia, Questlove is a creative force with wide-ranging interests in music, food, culture, and the arts. The Grammy Award-winning artist has been directing the in-house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since 2014. Questlove is one of the producers of the Broadway musical Hamilton. He is the co-founder of Okayplayer and OkayAfrica. He is an adjunct instructor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. Questlove is the bestselling author of Mo’ Meta Blues and the James Beard Award nominated Something to Food About.

Using his New York Times bestseller and Grammy-nominated Creative Quest as a starting point for their discussion, Questlove and Dr. Perry will discuss creative inspiration and how to live your best creative life. Audience members will be invited to ask questions.

There will be a book signing of copies of Creative Quest in the Lockwood Lobby immediately following the talk.

This is a free event. Tickets are required.
