Yuja Wang, piano
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2020
Venue Matthews Theatre
OVERVIEW
“Electrifying” is the only word that aptly describes Yuja Wang’s rapid ascent into the pantheon of today’s pianists. She is a technically phenomenal performer and a thoughtful musician with an inquiring mind and ear for color, texture, and harmony; you just want to sit back and marvel at her artistry. This season, as one of Carnegie Hall’s Artists-in-Residence, she has curated one of its Perspectives Series; and in the spring she takes John Adams’ new piano concerto to Japan with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. For her return to McCarter, she is contemplating works by Debussy, Schoenberg and Brahms—but regardless of what she winds up playing, you are bound to be dazzled.
