McCarter at the Museum

Join us for McCarter at the Museum - renowned performing artists in one-night only events at the Princeton University Art Museum. 

Building on the success of the Museum’s grand opening in October 2025, the series launches Thursday, November 12, 2026 with an evening of cabaret by the Tony-winning composer of Parade, acclaimed performer Jason Robert Brown, followed by a powerful solo concert on Thursday, April 1, 2027 by African jazz pianist Nduduzo Makhathini aligned with the Museum’s ongoing exhibition Clay Has Memory

Tickets are $35, with a limited number of early access tickets for McCarter Director’s Circle members and members of the Museum’s Partner Circle, on sale Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 12:00 PM, and on sale to the general public Friday, September 18, 2026 at 12:00 PM. Jason Robert Brown is a four-time Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist of The Last Five Years, Parade, Songs for a New World, 13, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon In Vegas and The Connector, has performed as a soloist or with his band in venues around the world, including sold-out shows at the London Palladium and Carnegie Hall. His albums as a singer-songwriter include Wearing Someone Else’s Clothes and How We React and How We Recover on Ghostlight, and Coming From Inside the House and Live In Concert with Stephen Sondheim on Concord.

Pianist, composer, educator and healer Nduduzo Makhathini is a leading voice in South African jazz. His new Blue Note album, The Myth We Choose features his working trio alongside special guests Shabaka Hutchings, Black Coffee, and a lineup of South African talent.  Makhathini merges spirit-seeking American jazz — echoes of John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner — with South African jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms, treating every performance as ritual: an invocation of personal, familial, and cultural memory.
