Equity Principal Auditions
McCarter Theatre Center's Equity Principal Auditions for the 26/27 Season have now passed. There was a NYC EPA on March 13th and Local Princeton EPAs on March 19th and 20th. There will be a NYC Equity Chorus Call for the musical A BEAT OF OUR OWN on Wednesday, March 25th but sign-ups for that audition are run entirely through Actors Equity Association. We will not be accepting video or digital submissions at this time.
Open Audition for A Beat of Our Own
There will be an open singer/dancer audition specifically for A BEAT OF OUR OWN on Thursday, March 26th at McCarter Theatre Center. Anyone may attend these auditions, although an appointment is highly encouraged.
For more information and to sign up for the Local Singer/Dancer Audition for A BEAT OF OUR OWN please click here.
We will not be accepting any digital or video submissions this year.
We are not actively seeking stage managers for the 26/27 Season, but we welcome submissions. Please submit for future consideration. We especially encourage stage managers who are local to the Princeton area to submit. Please submit your resume for future consideration to Laura Sperling, Production Manager at production@mccarter.org. The deadline for submissions is June 1st, 2026.
Youth Ensemble Auditions for A Christmas Carol 2026 are expected to be held in September. The auditions in March do not include the Youth roles in A Christmas Carol. Please monitor this page for future audition opportunities.
Scripts
McCarter employs a search rather than submission method when scouting new work. We do not accept submissions. This includes submissions from agents, writers, and other theater artists. We believe a more focused and directed approach benefits both McCarter and the artists we serve.
McCarter is committed to nurturing new plays and artists through commissions, readings, workshops, retreats, and productions. We identify new artists by carefully following the work around us through contact with other theaters, festivals, graduate programs and playwright development organizations, and through conversations with our colleagues around the country. If the project fits our needs and we believe it may be a possible fit for development or production in the next few seasons, we will respond with a request to read the script.
