Casting

The Youth Ensemble Auditions for A Christmas Carol 2025 have now passed. They took place at McCarter Theatre on Sept 14, 2025. In order to be considered for the Youth Ensemble, your child must have attended the audition on Sept 14th. No further submissions can be accepted.

General Auditions for the 25/26 Season at McCarter Theatre have now passed. NYC Equity Principal Auditions were held on Monday, March 10th and local Princeton Equity Principal Auditions were held on Thursday, March 13th and Friday, March 14th.   

We will not be accepting digital or video submissions at this time. 

Scripts

McCarter employs a search rather than submission method when scouting new work. We do not accept submissions. This includes submissions from agents, writers, and other theater artists. We believe a more focused and directed approach benefits both McCarter and the artists we serve.  

McCarter is committed to nurturing new plays and artists through commissions, readings, workshops, retreats, and productions. We identify new artists by carefully following the work around us through contact with other theaters, festivals, graduate programs and playwright development organizations, and through conversations with our colleagues around the country. If the project fits our needs and we believe it may be a possible fit for development or production in the next few seasons, we will respond with a request to read the script.
