Stage Door Access, launched in 2024, opens the doors to theater for everyone in our community.

This vital program provides free and low-cost tickets to community members who might otherwise be unable to attend, while introducing thousands of students to the transformative power of live theater through student matinees and education programs. 

At McCarter Theatre Center, we believe financial barriers should never prevent anyone from experiencing the magic of live performance. Theater has the power to inspire, challenge, and unite us.  We believe everyone deserves access to that experience. 

McCarter is proud to be part of the New Jersey’s Families First Discovery Pass program which provides discounts to cultural programs for state assistance recipients.  More information and details can be found here.  

Working with our community partners, we provide thousands of underserved individuals with free and subsidized education and community engagement programs designed to enrich the people's lives in our diverse community. We are committed to making quality arts experiences accessible to disadvantaged, underserved, and special-needs groups. 

Help McCarter Open the Door Wider 

Our Stage Door Access Program removes barriers — cost, mobility, sensory sensitivity, and more — so that neighbors across our region can experience live performance fully and comfortably. 

We can't do this alone. The organizations already working directly with the communities we hope to reach are essential partners in making Stage Door Access real.
