Hailing from Kyiv, Ukraine, DakhaBrakha is a world music quartet known for its self-described “ethno-chaos” sound—a bold fusion of Ukrainian folk, global rhythms, and theatrical flair. With powerful, polyphonic vocals and instrumentation from India, Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, their performances are as visually striking as they are sonically mesmerizing.

Formed at the DAKH Center for Contemporary Art by avant-garde theater director Vladyslav Troitskyi, DakhaBrakha offers a moving, modern celebration of culture and creativity that transcends borders.

At the crossroads of Ukrainian folklore and experimental performance, their music shifts from the intimate to the riotous, grounded in contemporary roots while imagining new sonic landscapes. Accompanied by eclectic instruments—tabla, darbuka, cello, jaw harp—the quartet crafts a transnational sound that remains deeply rooted in homeland and heritage.

Winners of the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award (2009) and the Shevchenko National Prize (2020), DakhaBrakha has performed in over 30 countries and at major festivals worldwide, from Bonnaroo to Glastonbury, captivating global audiences and earning acclaim as “visually striking and sonically mesmerizing” (Broadway World).
