Classes run throughout the week from September 2025 to June 2026. For individual schedules, please visit the class registration link.

We offer classes for K-12th grade students and adults.

Class costs vary depending on the length of the sessions. Check the individual classes for rates.

Each class has a maximum capacity of 14-16 students.

Classes will take place in professional rehearsal studios inside McCarter Theatre Center. 

Payment is due at the time of registration. We are unable to offer payment plans at this time, but information about financial assistance is listed below.

Need-based scholarships and financial assistance are available to qualifying families. Please click here and complete the application. Email your materials to classes@mccarter.org.  A McCarter representative will reach out to you with the next steps once we've received your materials. 

If you purchase the Flexible Registration option, you may cancel up to two weeks before the start of the class for a full refund. If you purchase the Standard Registration option, your payment is non-refundable. No refunds will be issued for cancelations made within two weeks of the class start date, regardless of whether Cancellation Protection was purchased.

Most classes culminate in a final sharing or an open class so parents and invited guests can view the students' creative work. Information about each culminating event will be communicated to families involved with those classes.

McCarter’s teaching artists include professional actors, directors, choreographers, musicians, and visual artists. All teaching staff has completed a criminal background check.

Occasionally, classes may need to be canceled due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances beyond our control (including, but not limited to, unsafe travel conditions, power outages, building closures, or public safety advisories).

If a class is canceled for these reasons:

• Notification: We will make reasonable efforts to notify enrolled participants as soon as possible using the primary email contact information on file.

• Make-up Sessions: When a cancellation occurs, we will make our best effort to schedule a make-up class. Make-ups may be held on an alternate date/time and may be offered in-person or virtually, depending on availability and feasibility.

• When a Make-up Isn’t Possible: If space, staffing, or participant schedules do not allow for a make-up session, the canceled class will be skipped and the course will continue as scheduled with the next session.

• Refunds/Credits: Refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments are not provided for sessions that are canceled due to inclement weather or other unavoidable circumstances beyond our control when a make-up session cannot be offered.

Our intention is fairness and continuity: We make every effort to complete programming as planned and to provide a make-up option whenever feasible, while recognizing that rescheduling can be limited by facility availability, instructor scheduling, and the overall course calendar.
