Two years on and nearing 100 performances later, London City Ballet makes its McCarter debut with its latest program.

The evening opens with Ashley Page’s Mephisto Waltz, an energetic curtain-raiser showcasing the company’s technical brilliance. From recent performances at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre comes Jerome Robbins’ Quiet City, a rarely seen work for three male dancers, followed by Soon, a new creation by rising choreographer Tasha Chu.

The program concludes with Glen Tetley’s Firebird, revived in his centenary year. Originally created for the Royal Danish Ballet, this striking reinterpretation tells the story of a young woman breaking free from constraint and embracing her individuality. For this revival, Olivier Award-winning designer John MacFarlane returns to restage his original designs for London City Ballet.

Winner of the Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Best Independent Company, London City Ballet continues to build an ambitious and forward-looking repertoire.

Firebird is a co-production with York Theatre Royal and Opéra de Vichy, France.
