Dubbed “the last leading man” by The New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell is a two-time Tony Award winner whose celebrated career spans Broadway, television, film, and concert stages around the world.

Mitchell earned Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for his acclaimed performance in Kiss Me, Kate and received additional Tony nominations for Man of La Mancha, King Hedley II, and Ragtime. His Broadway credits also include Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jelly's Last Jam, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Shuffle Along. In 2016, he received the prestigious Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for his charitable work with the Entertainment Community Fund and was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame that same year.

An acclaimed and versatile vocalist, Mitchell has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, including John Williams, Marvin Hamlisch, Gustavo Dudamel, Michael Tilson Thomas, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. He has appeared multiple times at Carnegie Hall, including a sold-out solo concert, and has twice performed at the White House for PBS’s Great Performances.

A lifelong musician and self-described autodidact, Mitchell began studying piano at age six and later taught himself composing, arranging, and orchestration. His musical talents extend to producing and orchestrating his solo recordings, including the albums Simply Broadway and Plays With Music.

Mitchell’s screen credits include recurring and guest-starring roles on Trapper John, M.D., Frasier, Glee, Madam Secretary, Mr. Robot, Billions, and The Good Fight, among many others. As a voice artist, he performed “Through Heaven’s Eyes” in The Prince of Egypt.

Beyond the stage and screen, Mitchell is a passionate advocate for the arts and charitable causes. He serves on the board of Americans for the Arts and is a longtime chairman of the board of the Entertainment Community Fund.
