In 1926, Agatha Christie vanished, then reappeared eleven days later without explanation. It was a tabloid sensation—a mystery that remains unsolved nearly a century later.
In 2026, Christie superfan Lucy makes the pilgrimage to the author’s estate. When she happens upon an unpublished diary written in Christie’s own hand, Lucy resolves to crack the case once and for all.
In parallel storylines that blend past and present, Mrs. Christie proves that sometimes you need to disappear in order to find yourself.

Mrs. Christie Easter Eggs
We sat down with Mrs. Christie Director Donya K. Washington to learn more about the Agatha Christie easter eggs that you can look for while watching!
Are there any easter eggs on Agatha's desk?
There are two - one from a Miss Marple story and one from a Poirot: the lamp is a shepherdess, not a shepherd, as it is in A Murder is Announced; and the dictaphone is a key item in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.
What are some of the Agatha Christie titles referenced in the play?
Besides The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Murder on the Orient Express, and Elephants Can Remember, there are also references from Sparkling Cyanide, The ABC Murders, Curtains, Evil Under the Sun, 4:50 to Paddington, Death Comes as the End, and N or M.
Are there any costume pieces that reference Christie’s work?
Archie's boutonniere in both dining room scenes is a tribute to a Poirot short story Yellow Iris, in which someone dies at dinner during a toast.
The set is filled with nods to Christie - can you name a few?
Across the top of the set are boxes that hold objects that relate to Agatha's life. The box with the candied apples refers to Agatha's second husband, Max, who wanted her daughter's blessing before proposing to Agatha. Her daughter would only give it if Max sent her two dozen candied apples. He sent twenty-six. The box with the surfboards refers to Agatha and Archie's time in Hawaii - the big surfboard is a replica of Agatha's, which she named Fred.
On the sides of the set are bookshelves. For those who saw our production of Murder on the Orient Express (which included Evan Zes, our Poirot), you may recognize two items: the large blue crest on the second box from the top on the lefthand bookshelf is the Wagon-Lit logo that was on the train, and the white card that reads "Prepare to die" on the right hand bookshelf, also second box from the top, was a prop used in the play.
Other books referenced on the bookshelves include Seven Dials, The Clocks, Dumb Witness, Witness for the Prosecution, Death in the Clouds, the short story How Does Your Garden Grow, among others.
The set also has a recurring mustache motif - can you say more?
If you look closely at the wallpaper of the house in Act 1, you'll see mustaches, a tribute to Poirot. In Act 2, you may notice the hill towards the rear of the stage looks a bit like a mustache - also a tribute to Poirot.
In Act 2, the clouds in the sky form unique shapes. What do they represent?
The clouds reference things that could be on Agatha's mind - from left to right - a hat that is reminiscent of Miss Marple's hat, a pipe (an oblique reference to Orient Express), a flower (as gardens often show up in Christie mysteries), a bottle of poison, and Petey, her dog.
Tell us about the sheep safe!
The script calls for the second act of Mrs. Christie to be like a Magritte painting. Lucy mentions sheep quite a bit, which reminded me of a French artist I'd read about, François-Xavier Lalanne, who made sheep-looking furniture. It seemed helpful to both the Magritte idea and the needs for locations in the second act to have some sheep around - and with the idea of sittable sheep came the idea of using one of those as a safe. The rest of the sittable sheep were cut, but we kept the safe! You may also notice some sheep with Wellington boots on Mustache Hill. By using sheep in this way, it's clear from curtain rise that something is off in Agatha's perception of the world. Also, it’s good silly fun.
